Make a joyful noise unto the Lord...
Lea Hughes is our new pianist.
Join us on Sunday's and watch
her fingers glide across the keys
    with confidence and elegance.
It is truly something beautiful to listen to.
Trust me when I say, you do NOT want to miss this.

...Sometimes music is all you need

MUSIC FOR YOU:

In the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), music plays an integral part of our worship service. Some is instrumental only, but many songs are sung by the congregation. There are 127 references in 29 of the 66 books in the Bible -- 99 references in 19 different books of the Old Testament, and 28 references in 10 different books of the New Testament. We read of references to trumpets, horns, drums, trigons, pipes, tambourines, lyres, cymbals, lutes, flutes, harps and other stringed instruments.

Jesus came to fulfill the law, not to change it. Read this from Matthew 5:17 (New Revised Standard Version): "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill." Also, in Matthew at 11:20, Jesus approved the use of musical instruments, suggesting the people ought to celebrate; read: "We played the flute for you, and you did not dance..." Therefore, for all the celebration at worship services that took place in Old Testament times, including the use of trumpets, horns, drums, trigons, pipes, tambourines, lyres, cymbals, lutes, flutes, harps and other stringed instruments, the law remains the same during New Testament times. Try listening to songs such as "God of Our Fathers" (listed in midi format) without the inspirational trumpet-blast intro that has characterized that beautiful song ever since it was created before 1902 by Daniel C. Roberts and George W. Warren. After you try, do you believe that instrumental music such as that is appropriate for a worship service?

We have listed here, a number of our favorite hymns; feel free to email The WebMaster with requests for additional music that you would like to hear on this page.
